Book sales to date

It’s been 3 weeks since Rasere’s War was released on Amazon and numerous other online bookstores. To date, I have made 25 eBook and 11 Paperback sales on Amazon and 3 eBook sales via Smashwords. 39 copies aren’t too bad considering the low level of promoting I’ve done. I want to thank everyone who has purchased a copy and is enjoying it. If you can afford the time, please give a thoughtful review.

On the date of Rasere’s War release, I hosted an event on Book Island in Second Life while in the guise of my avatar, GoSpeed Rasere. Here is a lightly edited transcript of the event.

Rasere’s War will be available in Paperback

Good news for those who love to hold books in their hands! There will be a print on demand version showing up soon on the Amazon book page. The format is paperback, 6×9 inch dimensions, 323 pages. Price will be $9.99 USD. Why so much? Well, since it is print on demand the cost per unit is much higher than a mass-produced book. The print cost is nearly half of the price and of course, Amazon takes a cut. The eBook will remain $0.99 USD for the foreseeable future. Why just $0.99 when you see eBooks going for $2.99 or more? The low price is an enticement to read this book and hopefully purchase and read the other books planned for the series.

Yes, the image depicts a hardback book, but it’s a similar size.

Merry Christmas!

I’m currently waist deep in the editing process for Rasere’s War and We Built This City. So many words make my head spin at times!

Of the 9 Beta Readers who signed up, I have only gotten feedback from one. Their input has been valuable and I’ve made a few changes to the story. Nothing major though, just a few consistency, redundancy, and grammatical edits were called for. Hoping to hear back from the other 8 readers soon.

Rasere’s War with the Beta Readers

I’ve reached the next step on my way to self-publishing. On the 27th I’ve sent my draft to my beta readers with instructions on what sort of feedback I am looking for. Using their feedback I will see what I can do with it, possibly rewriting, adding or deleting material. After that is completed I will work on formatting the ebook, adding front and back material and cover art. I anticipate completing this by new years.

1st Edit done

My first self-edit for Rasere;s War is done. I made a couple of passes with the Grammarly app and rewrote a few sections to make them flow better, I had to modify one character a little bit as I was not happy with how he came across. I could easily see how my writing slowly improved over the length of the novel. I still have a way to go as I am still finding my writing voice.

My next step will include finding a few beta readers to check for the feel and consistency of the story. I am also working on the ancillary pages such as a preface, glossary, dedications, acknowledgments, and cover art.
